Taiwan Day 8 (20 Dec Kenting)

Apparently the good sunny weather in Kenting during winter doesn't last beyond 3 days. It was the next cycle this morning where the weather was cloudy and windy, with occasional showers ;(

Our half day trip with Taiwan Tour Bus http://www.taiwantourbus.com.tw/ cost NT450 per pax. On paper, it was supposed to be from 8am to 12pm. After picking up some customers along the way, think the tour probably started only at about 8.30am, and ended at about 11am. The itinerary includes visits to these places:

船帆石 looks like a sailing ship from a distance (I don't think so leh..), and to a closer view it resembles the profile of former U.S. President Richard Nixon (huh???). The tour guide said it looked like the side profile of a gorilla (errrr.... *faint* hahah!!)

砂岛 is a beach made from seashells and coral that have been crushed and worn into fine sand over the eons. It is protected as an ecological reserve.

鹅銮鼻 is a plateau at the southernmost end of Taiwan. Apparently, the 21m high Lighthouse is one of the most impressive lighthouses in Taiwan.

龙盘公园 faces the Pacific Ocean. It was VERY VERY windy up there. Mind you, one can get swept away hoh hahah!!!
View of Pacific Ocean

Messy......

港口吊桥 used to be only route connecting 2 places before the highway was built. One part of it is broken and undergoing maintenance, hence we couldn't walk across. Anyway, to walk across will cost NT10 per pax.

出火 earns its name from the natural gas that leaks from numerous fissures in the mudstone ground there. When lit, the gas jets alight into dancing tongues of flame.

Back from tour - lunch at another local eatery: 3 dishes + 1 soup = NT450 (2 pax share)

Thereafter, we visited the Kenting Youth Activity Centre where we could also view the Frog Rock. Entrance = NT30 per pax (Mon-Fri). Nothing much in there.. a place more for youths/ kids to camp, recreational activities and stay as well ;)

Going up to Hualien tomorrow and will be staying in another 民宿.
