Ok, this is the first time I'm shouting about my birthday, which is also my hubby's birthday, on top of the supposedly loooomantic Valentine's Day! Anyway, V-Day is also a day for everyone to celebrate each other's love for friends, family and colleagues. So, it doesn't belong to only the couples, tio boh?? Hehe..
Oh, I received 18 sms-es on my birthday! Many thanks to all of you, and to others who have sent your blessings in other ways too!
Hubby and I were on leave, since the CNY. So it was a good long one week break for us, especially yours sincerely, cos I could get up late, like 10am haha!! Think I am such a lazy person! I am the sort of person who'd just "nuah" on the bed, until the cows come home haha!!
We weren't sure what we wanted to do on our birthday. We only knew we wanted to have a good meal and having heard much about Triple 3 Restaurant at Meritus Mandarin, I made a reservation for their lunch buffet. But, just the night before, we read some real bad reviews about the place, and the author described the quality of the food as "crappy" hahaha!! That certainly wasn't encouraging! Having been swayed by that, we changed our mind, and decided to go for dim sum lunch at Lei Garden, Chijmes. We wanted Wah Lok (Carlton Hotel) but it was fully booked!!
Any-the-wayzz, Lei Garden wasn't exactly fantastic too. For six tim sum dishes, a dessert, double boiled soup (good for 2 pax) and a plate of suckling pig & tofu, it cost $126 (including GST & tax)! The food was only ok - it wasn't that great so we didn't think it was worth paying that amount. My hubby said we might have been better off if we had stuck to Triple 3 where the lunch buffet cost S$55++ per pax haha!! Ooopss..
-> double boiled fish soup S$38: very tasty indeed but I don't know what kinda fish was used to boil the soup.
-> suckling pig (5 pcs) with tofu $32: very crispy pig skin and even tho' there was a layer of fat beneath it, it was quite yummy (but sinful!). But I got jar-lart after 2pcs. Con: has quite strong "piggy" taste if you know what I mean..
Each of the following tim sum basket cost between $3.90 to $5.90
Service was "good"! Too good to be true, to the extent I felt like I had to rush through my meal ;( haha!! The place seemed popular with many, cos shortly after we sat down, there were throngs of people who streamed in, mostly business lunches it seemed, with many who did the "lou-heh".. perhaps that's why the rush...
My rating? 3 of 5. Won't return cos we will go Wah Lok next time haha!!
