I read that Pho24 (the vietnamese noodle my hubby and I love to eat when we were in Ho Chi Minh City) was in town. Very excited! Must try, we thought! And so, we went to its outlet at Millenia Walk. Apparently, this is the 2nd outlet. The other is in Yio Chu Kang.
Anyway, we went but were disappointed ;(. Why? Here goes:
1. The amount of vege (minty herbs, bean sprouts) was rather miserable. We expected it to be at least comparable to what we got in Ho Chi Minh City.
3. We believe they added fried minced garlic, which surely added to the flavour of the soup but it shouldn't be the case cos the soup should be tasty enough on its own.
4. Service staff. 70% of them were Vietnamese, who couldn't take English instructions very well. As a result, we could hear the boss scolding the staff in the small restaurant. Hence, the place seemed quite chaotic, disorganised.
5. The beef ran out and hence, customers who came in later than us had to wait while the Yio Chu Kang outlet sent staff to bring over more beef.
Well, ok, enough of black hat (I just attended Edward de Bono Six Thinking Hats hahaha!!). Something good about it is that the beef was quite tender lah... not too bad.. soup also quite consistent with what we had when we were in Vietnam.
Pricing wise... S$6.90 per bowl of beef noodle soup. Not cheap, but by Singapore standard, can lah... In Ho Chi Minh, you pay VND50,000 (~S$5) for a set which includes the beef noodle soup and a drink. Cheap hoh?? haha!!
We say: We may go back, but not so soon. If you are keen to try, perhaps give it another 1 or 2 months to improve.
